Translating Wisdom: Classical Traditions from Around the World

How does translating ancient texts impact the understanding of their ideas? Does the method of translation (oral, written, digital) change the meaning of the texts? Using seminal works from Greek, Latin, Hebrew, and Sanskrit, panelists explore the impact of cultural differences and technological advancements on the translation of ancient texts.

View original manuscripts and books from the 11th to the 18th centuries, including works by Homer, Virgil, Vyasand, Valmiki, a Torah scroll and the Qur’an.
